Hey there! I'm Alyssa
I'm a multidisciplinary fine artist based in the United States whose work is riveted by the mind; specifically emotion, memory, and reverie. Come join me in these familiar spaces and explore the world of light and color in an age where everything feels grey.
Biography
Alyssa's love of creating began long before she ever imagined calling herself an artist. As a child, she begged her parents to take her to the art store more often than the toy store. She spent years taking classes both in and out of school, experimenting with new mediums and eventually assisting her instructor in teaching weekend and summer classes.
Although people often encouraged her artistic talent, it was always framed as something to pursue "on the side." So when she entered college, Alyssa studied biology while continuing to take art and art history courses as electives. Eventually, her passion for art would become so fierce that she would change her major to Studio Art.
During college, her work became deeply personal, exploring the complexities and struggles of mental health through painting, ceramics, and mixed media. Yet constant comparison and critique slowly quieted the joy that had once fueled her creativity. Soon after graduation, she had stopped making work altogether.
Instead, she found herself teaching. Her first job after college was at the Indianapolis Art Center, where she rediscovered the fulfillment of nurturing creativity in others. She later became an educator, spending more than a decade designing immersive lessons, imaginative classroom experiences, and creative resources for students and fellow teachers. While she wasn't painting, she never truly stopped creating.
In 2025, Alyssa realized something unexpected. The creativity that had always energized her was being poured almost entirely into everyone else. What had once felt authentic and generous had begun to leave little room for her own artistic voice.
So she picked up a paintbrush. It felt like coming home again.
Today, Alyssa creates luminous, atmospheric works inspired by gardens, memory, dreams, and the quiet places where emotion and imagination meet. Through layered textures, expressive color, and painterly movement, she hopes each piece offers viewers a moment to pause, breathe, and remember what it feels like to slow down and wonder.
Welcome to the studio.
We hope you feel at home here, too.
Artist Statement
I have always been captivated by riveted by the mind; specifically emotion, memory, and reverie.
I often find myself wandering through places that feel strangely familiar. Sometimes they are softened recollections of real moments, brightened by nostalgia. Other times they are imagined landscapes born from quiet daydreams and a longing to escape the ordinary. Over time, I have realized that the boundary between memory and imagination matters less than the feelings they leave behind.
My work explores these familiar liminal spaces, where light, color, and movement become emotional language. I am fascinated by the way a single beam of light can transform a landscape, turning the overlooked into something to pause with, and by how color can evoke memories just out of reach.
